Cleveland Construction is closely monitoring the global coronavirus situation. Please know that our top priority during this time is the health and well-being of our employees, our trade partners’ employees, and their families.
At this time, we are not aware of any confirmed Coronavirus infections to any personnel working on our projects. However, we are closely tracking and following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), as well as state and local health authorities.
What are the symptoms of Coronavirus?
The CDC has advised that most healthy individuals who develop Coronavirus will experience mild to severe symptoms, including fever, cough, and shortness of breath, but are likely to recover fully. Older adults and individuals with preexisting health issues are at a higher risk for more severe complications.
What steps are we taking to address Coronavirus?
Any individuals who have tested positive for Coronavirus or have had close contact with an individual who has tested positive for Coronavirus are prohibited from entering our jobsites until they have been symptom-free for at least 14 days. In addition, we have requested that any of our employees who show any symptoms of Coronavirus stay home and follow CDC and other medical guidance, and we have instituted a policy of directing any of our employees who come to work with symptoms of Coronavirus to immediately return home.
We also are informing jobsite personnel of the CDC best practices for good hygiene, increasing our cleaning and sanitation efforts at the jobsite, and increasing our supply of hand washing and hand sanitizer stations. In addition, we will be posting CDC guidance about Coronavirus and best practices for hygiene throughout the jobsite.
The CDC advises that Coronavirus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person when people are in close contact with one another. For that reason, we are making efforts to avoid situations that result in large groups of people from being in close contact with each other. For example, rather than having project-wide safety stand-downs, we will focus on smaller group safety meetings. Where possible, we will attempt to hold meetings by phone rather than in-person.
What can you do to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus?
The CDC recommends the following practices to maintain good hygiene. We are recommending that all of our jobsites follow these policies:
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching your face, eyes, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Clean your work area with disinfectant regularly.
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. Throw the tissue away and wash or sanitize your hands. If a tissue is not available, cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve.
- Avoid shaking hands, even in a business setting. Avoid any other unnecessary physical contact with others.
- Avoid large groups of people in close proximity to each other.
We will continue to monitor this situation diligently, and we will communicate any further adjustments to our approach as appropriate. Thank you for your cooperation so that we can all ensure the health and safety of everyone at our jobsite.
