Cleveland Construction, Inc. performed as the interior trades contractor for the redevelopment of The Old Post Office located in Washington, D.C. into a new Trump International Hotel.
The 499,247 square-foot historic Old Post Office was redeveloped to include 262-suite luxury hotel units, 39,000 square-feet of meeting space, a 13,000 square-foot grand ballroom, retail, spa and museum space.
Cleveland Construction was contracted to install the drywall, metal studs, fireproofing and acoustical ceiling within all 262 guestrooms, meeting spaces, fitness center, and the grand ballroom.
Our team overcame many challenges throughout the project that came with working within a century-old building. Our team quickly realized that the redevelopment drawings didn’t match what our team was uncovering onsite. Since every room had difference existing conditions and final layout, our team scheduled daily walkthroughs with Lend Lease and re-designed the room layouts while performing the work. Because of the tight construction schedule, our team was marking these layout changes on paper in the room or directly on the walls to accelerate the room build-outs so other trades to begin their work.
In addition to our team following our company’s safety program for the project, we also followed the site-specific safety plans set forth by Lend Lease. Our team was chosen by the council to receive the Gold Award of Excellence for our work at the Trump International Hotel.
Cleveland Construction's complete scope of work included furnishing and installing metal stud framing, gypsum drywall for partitions, shaft walls, ceilings, soffits, and bulkheads, thermal insulation, acoustical ceilings, exterior gypsum board and cement plaster, hollow metal and wood doors, rough carpentry, spray fireproofing and water-resistant backer board in hotel bathrooms and kitchens.
Our performance at Trump International Hotel Washington DC is an example of Cleveland Construction Inc.’s commitment to delivering the highest level of quality and best value while maintaining the contract delivery date. The transformation of this iconic national landmark building provided unique challenges that Cleveland Construction’s skilled team could overcome and complete with the highest level of craftsmanship.
