Walmart Supercenter #1517-05
Pompano Beach, Florida
Project Overview
Cleveland Construction, Inc. performed as the general contractor for the construction of a new 91,750 square-foot big-box retail and grocery store located in Pompano Beach, Florida.
Cleveland Construction was responsible for construction of the reinforced concrete masonry building on a 8.18 acre site with 186,343 square-feet of surface parking and landscaping.
In addition to the typical retail store requirements, the scope of work also included demolition of 4 pre-existing buildings, installation of a $1.5 million StormTech underground water detention system and a large retaining wall that required 7 months of dewatering. Throughout construction, the project team maintained stormwarter compliance with the EPA and also incorporated procedures for air quality control.
Cleveland Construction also recycled 18,750 tons of contaminated soil and 330 tons of recycled concrete, asphalt and metal on the project. The building was completed in on-time following an aggressive construction schedule of 35 weeks. The new supercenter opened to the public in early October 2013.
