Cleveland Construction, Inc. was contracted to manage the installation of the exterior framing, sheathing, building insulation, partition framing, hanging of gypsum walls and acoustical ceiling tile for the new Social Security Administration Metro West complex located in West Baltimore, Maryland.
The new Social Security Administration headquarters is two office buildings, eight and six stories each, encompassing over 538,000 square-feet. The two buildings are connected by a central atrium. Because of the sheer size of the central atrium, for Cleveland Construction to perform their work, we were required to erect scaffolding with full planking at all ceiling levels, perimeter access, and column access at all levels. The facility is projected to achieve LEED-NC Silver certification and will house over 1,600 administration employees. Groundbreaking for this project occurred in January 2012 with Cleveland Construction competing its scope of work in the January 2014 after 14 months.
