Cleveland Construction, Inc. (CCI) served as the general contractor for the construction of an 850,000 sf climate controlled food distribution center and appurtenances spread across a 160-acre site.  Regarded at the time as the largest refrigerated warehouse of its kind in North America, 82% of the space was utilized for either frozen or refrigerated food storage.  Supporting infrastructure included site development, dynamic compaction, utilities, storm water detention, erosion and sedimentation control measures, road construction, paving and landscaping.

The building consisted of five separate temperature controlled environments and space for office personnel and constructed to effectively service multi-state retail stores with food products.  On site appurtenances featured a guardhouse to control site access; a fire suppression pump house and 250,000 gallon storage tank; an energy center; and a truck maintenance garage with fuel island to service Wal-Mart’s fleet.
